An action movie with a fair amount of comedic elements. The Q&A session at the drug deal scene features the character's favorite author: Tolstoy. When hitmen get old and start making mistakes, it often leads to unnecessary complications... Several recent American action movies I've watched follow this pattern. The gunfight with the music of "The Blue Danube" upstairs and the rather childish costume duel at the end are quite entertaining.

Dr. Nocturnal

4.0/10 Dec 14, 2025

It's a pretty good dark comedy, so why is the rating so low? The story revolves around a seasoned assassin who stubbornly refuses to admit he has an eye problem, and a chubby guy constantly instilled with the idea that "a man should solve his own problems" by his mob boss. In reality, he's incredibly bright and quick to learn. Together, they execute missions, creating a series of hilarious situations. However, a bit more exaggerated and raw dramatic tension would have made it even more entertaining.

As a popcorn entertainment film, it deserves three and a half to four stars. The story of a "gangster boss" who fails to raise his son is told with twists and turns, offering plenty of dark humor and a surprising display of genuine friendship among the "assassins." The young, chubby guy seems ordinary at first glance, but he actually adds the most brilliance to the film!

It's my type, and all the actors are familiar faces. It feels like all the old villains are gathered together, haha. The plot is a bit unrealistic, but it's fun and entertaining. The pink-haired old man is so effeminate, like an old lady. The plot is always the same: the bad guys always talk too much. If it were me, I would have killed them first. If you can't control your chatterbox, you can talk to a corpse. The little fat guy's fighting ability is surprisingly strong, haha.

Unexpectedly, it received overwhelmingly positive reviews. The humor was perfectly timed, the plot was tight and well-paced, both main characters found some form of redemption, and the acting was superb. Interestingly, the film's title and theme song were also the background music for the opening ceremony of the London Olympics.
